Every Heart Stories Interview

How do you describe your journey?
Whoosie describes his journey as creative, disciplined, and intentional. He believes creativity is more than hard work. It is a frequency you tap into and a mindset you live by. For him, art is not something he does. It is how he processes life. From music to metal, every piece he builds carries emotion, structure, and purpose. His journey has been about learning how to channel that energy into something that heals, inspires, and leaves a lasting imprint.
Who is Whoosie Works?
He explained that Whoosie Works represents the musical side of his creativity and his overall identity as an artist. It reflects how he stays active, productive, and intentional about building through sound, story, and motion.
Where are you from?
Whoosie is from West Memphis, He talked about how Memphis shaped his mentality, his music ear, and his business mindset, and how being surrounded by culture pushed him to want creativity in everything.
When did you realize art was more than a hobby?
He said getting an easel and a keyboard from his mother around age 12 changed everything. That was the moment art and music connected and became his peaceful island for channeling emotions, whether anger, joy, or pain.
How do music and metal art connect for you?
He described his shows as a full experience where music becomes the soundtrack while the metal art is revealed in real time. He then edits footage so people can relive it, share it, and be pulled into the next show.
Who is Whoo Caso?
He explained that Whoo Caso is his metal artist identity, named with a nod to Picasso. This is the side of him that builds physical art from raw material and pushes detail, precision, and emotion into every piece.
What is your metal art process?
As Whoo Caso, he works primarily with 24 gauge galvanized metal, chosen because it is easy to manipulate and bend. He described getting inspiration from movies, from intense focus, and from ghost sketching with graphite that only shows when you tilt the metal.
What are some of your favorite pieces?
He said his favorite piece is Groot because of the detail and texture. He also mentioned a piece with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck as one people connect with because it feels timeless. He talked about massive builds too, including Xerxes from 300 and a rocket shuttle piece that was rented for a film project.
How did your grandmother influence your art?
Whoosie shared that his grandmother passed away from dementia and her legacy changed his mission. He said his work is meant to function like a visual prescription that can trigger memory, turn the light bulb on, and help families dealing with dementia and Alzheimer’s feel hope again.
What does “never giving up” mean to you?
He said never giving up starts with acknowledging the creator, recognizing others are fighting battles you cannot see, and staying structured around positive people. He compared it to metal work, where precision and structure are required for the final piece to stand.
What is your mantra?
His mantra is “don’t rush, think fast”. He explained it as pacing yourself while keeping quarterback vision, staying aware, and moving with intention because you only dance to the beat of your own drum.
What Does Every Heart Has A Story Mean To You?
Calvin and Whoosie discussed building a collaborative collection featuring small scale metal pieces incorporated into merch with story attached, with a proposed 50/50 split after expenses. They also explored an art show concept in Dallas and a community initiative using art to support seniors and families impacted by dementia.
